The Ontario Invasive Plant Conference and the Ontario Phragmites Working Group Annual Meeting took place on Thursday, January 18th and Thursday January 25th, respectively. These events occured virtually using our industry leading virtual outreach and networking software, Remo!
The 2024 OIPC conference and OPWG meeting theme was Finding a Balance! Our conference examined the importance of finding a balanced approach to invasive plant management by taking into account different perspectives, management approaches, and goals. This event encouraged people to broaden their perspectives and cooperate to find a balance towards healthy ecosystems and biodiversity in a changing climate. There were opportunities to explore strategies, programs, and partnerships. This can lead to an integrated and balanced approach towards the management of invasive plants.
Each year, this unique two-day event brough professionals and passionate citizens together from across Ontario and beyond. This interactive event was a learning opportunity and a great chance to network with others working in the field of invasive plant management. We were excited to support connections in this online venue. This conference is was an excellent opportunity for municipalities, government agencies, NGO’s, academics, students, and citizen scientists to learn, take part in discussions and to meet others who are knowledgeable and passionate about invasive plant management.
