Our annual Ontario Phragmites Working Group Annual Meeting occurred virtually on January 23rd, 2025.

The 2025 OPWG conference theme was The Leading Edge of Invasion. Although Invasive Phragmites is not a new invader, our understanding of this invasive plant, its “invasion curve” and its management are continuously evolving. This event showcased cutting-edge research to mitigate the impacts of Invasive Phragmites and emphasized the importance of adaptive management strategies. It encouraged people to explore innovative strategies, programs and partnerships to address the future spread of Invasive Phragmites through a “leading-edge” perspective.

Each year, this unique event brings professionals and passionate citizens together from across Ontario and beyond. This interactive event was a learning opportunity and a great chance to network with others working in the field of invasive plant management. We were excited to support connections in this online venue. This conference is an excellent opportunity for municipalities, government agencies, NGO’s, academics, students, and citizen scientists to learn, take part in discussions and to meet others who are knowledgeable and passionate about invasive plant management.
