Invasive species are among one of the greatest threats to the survival of our native species and ecosystems. Join us for this FREE invasive plants 101 workshop to gain the knowledge you need to start identifying and reporting invasive plants today!
The Ontario Invasive Plant Council is pleased to offer this workshop as a proud partner in the Early Detection & Rapid Response (EDRR) Network Ontario. The EDRR Network Ontario is a community action project that aims to train and equip volunteers with the skills and resources needed to better detect and reduce invasive species in Ontario, one community at a time. This year, EDRR is focusing on the Kingston, Quinte, and Rideau catchment area of Eastern Ontario. This workshop will focus on current and emerging invasive plants in this region, and is open to anyone in Ontario interested in attending!
The live workshop will be held virtually on Tuesday, June 22nd from 6-8pm EST.
Learn together with other dedicated individuals in our interactive virtual learning platform. This two-hour workshop will provide a broad overview of invasive species, their impacts and pathways of spread. Attendees will be introduced to a number of invasive plants and gain an understanding of their individual biology and ID characteristics.
This workshop is made possible by funding provided by the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

I don’t live in the Eastern Region of Ontario. Can I still attend? Yes! This workshop focuses on current and emerging invasive plants in the Eastern Region of Ontario, but many of these plants can be found throughout the province.
I have paid for other OIPC events. Why are some events free when others have a cost? Free attendance at this event is made possible by generous funding provided by the Ontario Trillium Foundation. We try to subsidize costs whenever we can, but our ability to do so varies by event.
