Himalayan Balsam (Impatien glandulifera) is an annual herbaceous plant native to the Western Himalayas. It was introduced to North America in the 1800s as an ornamental plant. This invasive plant spreads very quickly and crowd out native plants. It’s mature seed capsules explode when touched and can eject seeds as far as 5 meters. It also produces a significant amount of nectar and can attract pollinators away from native plants.
